Thanks for stomping by!!
Welcome to Lynne Cox Publications, a music company devoted to delivering quality music education products!! (and home of the Dinosaurs!!)
Brontosaurus, you mighty reptile! (of questionable repute-how dare some scientists claim you never existed!) YOU MADE IT IN THE NEW NATIONAL FEDERATION OF MUSIC CLUBS BULLETIN FOR 2016-2020 in Elementary Class II of piano solos! Your heavy, lumbering trek on the piano with the daring chase at the end culminating in your timely splash into the water where no self-respecting Tyrannosaurs Rex would go is appealing to piano students and teachers. It was great fun creating you!
Signed: Your composer, Lynne Cox (see on description page and also shopping)
PS I understand that now scientists are 'reinstating you'.

And 'THE MINNOW' is swimmingly in Primary Class III in the SCJM category. You can find this at in 'Myklas Contest Winners, Bk. 1', published by Alfred Publishing as well as the sheet music also published by Alfred. Click on link below:
My name is Lynne Craige Cox and I have enjoyed being a music educator for over 40 years. A native of Marion, SC, my husband and I now reside in New Bern, NC, (formerly in Belhaven, NC) with our Yorkie, Adagio. Our two grown sons have provided us with lovely ladies, a grandson and two granddaughters. For years I have composed songs for them. ‘Lynne Cox Publications’ (Sea Zoo) is an outgrowth of that loving endeavor.
My company is devoted to delivering quality music education products to supplement and enhance your particular pedagogical methods of piano instruction or for just plain enjoyment. My compositions and products include original elementary piano solos (sheet music and books), CDs, and a music teaching poster of the music alphabet. I take this opportunity to thank the many of you who already use my songs and welcome newcomers.
It was while living in the beautiful town of Belhaven, N.C., located on the Intracoastal Waterway that I began composing music for children--our two sons, Trevor and Sean. Living on the water fed my imagination of the creatures of the sea while teaching my two young sons about the ocean animals. 'Sea Zoo' started with 10 original sea creature songs set in riddle form that I would sing to the younger son, Sean, while the older son, Trevor, would cavort in the water acting out that particular sea creature. This was a fun learning game with mother and sons in the 1980s.
Besides being self-published, I was a published composer with Myklas Music Press, which was purchased by Alfred Publishing in 2004. My first piano solos published as sheet music with Myklas were the 10 songs in my ‘Sea Creature Series’: ‘The Shark’, ‘Lobster’, ‘Minnow’, 'Whale', 'Octopus', 'Crab', 'Starfish', 'Oyster', 'Eel', and 'Jellyfish'. Some of these stayed on the contest list for the National Federation of Music Clubs for years. They won state awards for 'Best Solo of the Year' sponsored by the N. C. Federation of Music Clubs and were used extensively in other contest lists by various music organizations.
Now that Alfred Music is publishing these solos they have also placed three of them them in a series entitled 'Myklas Contest Winners' Volume One. 'The Minnow', The Crab', and 'The Whale' are found in this volume one. These three pieces plus 'The Shark' are also available through Alfred Music in sheet music format.
My credentials include: Fulbright Scholar 2007, Recipient of the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award by the School of Music, East Carolina Univ., Greenville, NC (ECU); Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance, ECU; Certification in Public School Music, ECU; State Finalist for the Sarah Belk Gambrell Award 2003 for Excellence in Public School Music; over 40 yrs music teaching experience (18 in public schools, 25 in private piano); formerly State and National certification in MTNA; listed in Hall of Fame w/Nat. Guild of Piano Teachers; church musician 43 yrs; Teacher Scholar 5 times at NC Center for Advancement of Teaching; Published composer.
Forming my own publishing company, Lynne Cox Publications, I published my 'Dinosaur Collection'. This book of 4 character pieces (elementary piano solos) are based on the composer's perception of each dinosaur's personality. 'Brontosaurus', in this collection, is included in the new bulletin (2016-2020) of the National Federation of Music Clubs.
I added a coloring book of the 10 'Sea Zoo' songs illustrated by artists Kim Dills and Catherine Broadhead. It contains the lyrics on one side of the page with a cartoon-like version of the sea creature to color on the opposite page. This coloring book does not include the musical score. I've used this book extensively in my teaching and delighted in observing how the students learned very quickly not only the music but distinguishing characteristics of each animal (marine biology!).
'Noah's Ark Collection' of sheet music (elementary piano solos with words) is my endeavor to expose the young musician to global music. In this series certain animals representing different areas of the world also represent a musical genre of that particular area. For examples: 'Joey the Wallabee Kangaroo' is written in a waltz style; 'Iguana' a tango; 'Sam the Lamb' in a strophic Celtic genre reminiscent of bagpipes in the bass; 'Cruising Down the Nile' (The Crocodile') has a mid-eastern flavor; and 'Koala Lullaby' is a lullaby with Alberti bass accompaniment.
On the back of each of these pieces of sheet music I have printed facts about the animal, area, and music theory in the piece. I call this the Actual Factual page. To my knowledge, this has never been done before with sheet music. The student can prepare one of these pieces, perform it in school and should be able to earn extra credit on a report in social studies or biology on an elementary level.
My two CDs are: 'American Eagle' which is a sampler of some of the above songs as well as a patriotic song I composed commemorating 9/11 to honor the military, firemen, rescue workers, and other patriotic citizens who love this country.
'Favorite Piano Classic' is my other CD on which I perform many of my favorite easy-listening piano solos by the masters. Liebestraume No. 3 by Liszt, Waltz No. 15 in Ab by Brahms, Nocturne in Eb by Chopin, Jeux D’Eau by Ravel, and the Pachelbel Canon in D are only 5 of the 9 tracks on this CD. It has been used for numerous wedding ceremonies as well as graduation exercises.
